Emma’s So Naturals – our history:
An Irish, family run business, based in Ardee, Co. Louth, Emma’s So Naturals was established in 2010 by Emma Fallon. Emma was looking for a natural and alternative way to fragrance her home, while reducing her family’s exposure to chemicals. Emma found that exposure to some perfumes and fragranced household cleaning and personal care products made her feel unwell and often triggered headaches, so it was while investigating more natural alternatives for these products, that Emma came up with the idea of simply creating her own!
After some time experimenting and exploring different essential oils, their aromatherapy benefits along with their valued pride of place in many perfume blends as top, middle and base notes, and combining these inspired blends in various percentages with several different types of natural waxes, Emma’s first few products were now ready, and these early candles – made using up-cycled glass jars and pretty vintage china teacups – were a sell-out success at local craft fairs.
Today the Emma’s So Naturals brand has grown in strength and the range of products available has now evolved to include beautifully designed 50 hour boxed glass Tumbler Candles, 20 hour Tin Candles and Wax Tart Melts, and new Handmade Palm-Free Soap in a growing range of inspired, hand blended all-natural, pure essential oil fragrances.
Handmade in Ireland!
How Irish are your Irish Candles?
Emma, who is Irish, living happily in beautiful Ireland, literally does everything* involved in producing these candles, lovingly and exclusively by hand. Everything involved includes melting the wax, selecting and blending the oils, sourcing and preparing the containers, setting the wicks, pouring the wax. Then patiently waiting before trimming the wicks, polishing the glasses and tins, and finally labelling and boxing the finished product. We have no magic elves and no overworked, underpaid staff. We do advocate child labour in the studio workroom, but only after homework is done, and only for very generous pocket money! Emma couldn’t do it all without her partner in crime Dave, who anyone that has met him at craft fairs will agree, is the world’s best salesman, with decades of experience (not wanting to make him sound too old!) and with a great brain for business, and who has helped to take the candles from a hand-made craft to an accessible, marketable product that is now available world-wide – together we make a great team!

There are a lot of companies out there asking you to ‘Buy Irish’, but how many of those companies are Irish beyond their ownership or company registration? How many can and do actually offer you Irish grown and produced food, or genuinely Irish made products? How many companies only label an imported product in Ireland and call it Irish? Yes, we do import some raw materials, it’s an inevitable part of being a producer on this small island of ours, but I’d like to think we’ve done our bit by being conscientious and by sourcing as many of the materials as is possible here at home, supporting Irish business, the way we hope to be supported too.
*Emma also does , this website design, product photography & editing, postage and packing, an occasional courier service, regular tea & coffee making, the school-run, laundry (but won’t do ironing), dusting, cleaning, cooking, homework, dog walking, shopping, the occasional yoga class or visit to the gym and some extra-curricular or very rare social events! Frankly it’s a wonder how any candles get made at all!!!
