How the fragrance creation process goes for me.
I’m formulating a new fragrance blend today. Well, I’m blending some oils today. The concept for a new fragrance begins some time before I get to this stage, as a seed thats planted in my imagination… an inspired notion, an idea, maybe even a dream! I can imagine scents and recall intuitively how they appear or felt to me. Its a sensory, emotional experience that’s not always easy to put into words.
The words must be forced because you must describe it, denote it, calculate percentages, costs, ratios, etc so translating your inspired, emotional sensory experience from the creative & intuitive right side brain to the verbal & analytical left side is tricky but is all part of the holistic process involved in taking a perfumery fragrance blend from the ether and into existence.
